Serving on the SMAC Board is an exceptional opportunity for qualified person(s) to work closely with district administration, state PTA and all PTAs across the SMSD district in advocating for all children and families in our district. Tell us about your interests and background, because we would love to have your help in advocating for all children in our district!
Be an MVP
My Volunteer Pal (MVP) program is the volunteer program for all Shawnee Mission Schools. MVP connects adult volunteers with students ages Pre-Kindergarten to age 18.

Volunteer at the Clothing Exchange
The Clothing Exchange is made possible with SMSD PTA volunteers, in addition to monetary donations. It is staffed 100%, by volunteer parents and families within our district, and each PTA Unit in the district donates money to be used to buy new underwear and socks.
Volunteer Opportunities:
Sort donations -- Hang donations -- Assist shoppers
Each PTA Unit has an assigned volunteer day; however, anyone is welcome to volunteer more often! Elementary schools are assigned from 8:30-11:00am. Middle school and High school are assigned evening shifts from 4:30-7:00pm. (See link to schedule of dates above.)
Tips for volunteering:
Arrive 30 minutes before shopping area opens.
Elementary schools - send 4 volunteers.
Middle School - 4 volunteers. If sending students, please ensure one adult for every 2 students.
High School - send 4 volunteers .
It is the responsibility of the volunteers to make arrangements for substitutes.
